A more than fitting addition to London’s elegant Edition hotel, Jason Atherton’s Berners Tavern opened its doors in 2013 and has swiftly gathered a loyal Fitzrovia fanbase, not least for Ian Schrager’s award-winning interior design, complete with detailed plasterwork and eclectic artwork.
With the kitchen headed up by long-standing Atherton collaborator Phil Carmichael, it’s a contemporary British affair with seasonal dishes that use ingredients that span the country. The perfect spot or a business breakfast thanks to its Clarence Court egg-enhanced morning menu, while an a la carte menu sees high-grade seafood options sit alongside salads, steaks and sharing platters that include chateaubriand and Herdwick lamb shoulder. Plus, at weekends, a brunch and roast menu takes centre stage.
