Brazilian striker looks forward to “a much more competitive team” being put out by Spurs next season

Tottenham striker Richarlison has spoken of his excitement at the upcoming changes being planned for Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

The Spurs boss outlined his approach to the summer transfer market last week, stating his confidence that the club will back him to make “drastic changes” to the team.

The final weeks of the season have seen Tottenham fall to four consecutive defeats, leaving them all-but certain to miss out on a place in next year’s Champions League.

A summer overhaul is very much on the cards and Richarlison is keen to see “a much more competitive team” put out by his manager, whose style of football he has backed despite the recent dip in form.

“We have played a much more dynamic and, let's say, more elegant and beautiful football than last season,” he told ESPN Brasil.

“But we have evolved, we have evolved a lot and I believe that, as of this week, it has already been announced that the coach will make changes.

“So I believe that next season he will be putting together a much more competitive team.”

Richarlison impressed off the bench in Spurs’ defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, scoring one and setting up another goal to make the 4-2 scoreline a little more respectable.

Burnley are next up in north London and the Brazilian is adamant that heads must not drop as the season’s end approaches.

“The last four games have not been easy for us,” admitted the 26-year-old. “We're coming off four defeats, it's difficult, but there's nothing we can do about it except work.

“The next game is at home, of course we wanted to play in the Champions League and there's still a chance, but it's a little difficult.

“There’s nothing we can do but work, play the next game and see what will happen until the end of the season.”
