Britons’ increasing love of cakes, breads and brioches, inspired by programmes such as the Great British Bake Off, pictured, is paying off for Whitworths sugars owner The Real Good Food Company.

It today signed contracts with supermarkets chain Asda and wholesaler Booker that will double the value of Whitworths’ retail sales to more than £100 million a year. The contracts, which begin later this month, will see the firm supply more than 60 product lines. Real Good Food shares today jumped 3p, or 6%, to 54p.
