BATM lifted by HIV screening quality mark

23 March 2012

Shares in BATM today shot up 4% after it won a CE mark, indicating it meets European quality standards, for a new HIV screening kit.

The telecoms firm’s diagnostic unit, Adaltis, said the kit could detect the latest strains of the virus and that testing in independent labs showed 100% accuracy for diagnostic sensitivity.

BATM said that “ensured that patients receive reliable diagnosis and that laboratories are spared the significant and needless expense of repeat testing”.

Deliveries of the HIV test will start in the second quarter of this year.

The shares rose 0.75p to 18p.
