Last orders for Vinopolis: Borough Market wine tasting venue and restaurant to close

Vinopolis, the Borough Market wine tasting venue and restaurant, nestled in the Victorian railway arches of London Bridge is to close its doors at the end of the year.

Wineworld London, the owners of the venue, which is home to five bars and has hosted TV show the Apprenticeship and corporate awards bashes, said the decision was the "best possible" one for shareholders.

Managing Director Samantha Anderson said: "It is naturally a very sad day, Vinopolis is something of a London landmark for event bookers and conferences but this is the best possible decision for the business and its shareholders.

"We have come to the end of what could reasonably be achieved with the wine experience and feel that it is time for new life to be breathed into the timeless space."

The 16-year-old space, which offers wine tasting experiences from around £27 a head, will run as normal throughout the year, with its final day of trading set to be December 31.
