Rightmove gets a record 100 million visits in January

A record 100 million browsers flicked through Rightmove’s homes for sale in January as the UK’s biggest property website entrenched its dominance, figures have showed.

The visitors viewed 1.5 billion pages of property over the month, continuing the momentum from a year in which underlying profits rose 20% to £124.6 million.

Average revenue per advertiser jumped by £77, or 13%, to £684 per month.

Rightmove is benefiting from the infighting in the online property world between Zoopla and start-up OnTheMarket.

OnTheMarket forces its agents to choose between Rightmove and Zoopla to advertise their properties, and the vast majority have chosen to stay with Rightmove.

Zoopla said earlier this month it had been "impacted in the short-term" by OnTheMarket and its "restrictive 'only one-other portal' rule", but added agents could soon find the policy too limiting.
