Upbeat Creston bounces back after profit warning

30 April 2012

Marketing group Creston’s shares today jumped almost 7% after it reassured the City business is back on track after a profit warning in January.

“We’re feeling confident,” said chief executive Don Elgie, after slashing operating costs.

Pre-tax profits before exceptionals in the year to March 2012 should hit targets and revenues were marginally ahead on a like-for-like basis at £75 million.

The communications arm is “doing very well”, thanks to digital agency Tullo Marshall Warren, which is behind the Lynx deodorant campaign starring model Kelly Brook, and PR firm Nelson Bostock, which acts for Facebook.

But the healthcare division has been feeling the squeeze as drugs firms suffer from a lack of blockbuster drugs and the Government delays NHS reforms.

Elgie also had to make cuts to the insight arm.

Creston shares, which have halved since last summer, rose 3.88p to 60p.
