David Beckham signs deal with Hong Kong menswear group Trinity

Life after football is turning into quite a fashionable affair for David Beckham, who has added a deal to front a clothing line by Trinity, the Hong Kong-based owner of Gieves & Hawkes, to his lucrative agreements with H&M, Armani and Adidas.

Under the terms of the five-year branding deal, Beckham, husband of fashion designer Victoria, who presented her most recent collection at New York Fashion week on Sunday, will be involved with everything from promotion, design and store layout for Trinity's Kent & Curwen brand.

The agreement was struck between Trinity, which is also the parent of Cerruti 1881, and Global Brands Group, now known as Seven Global.

Beckham and GBG teamed up for a joint venture last year, which led to GBG changing its name in honour of Beckham's former shirt number.

Simon Fuller, Beckham's agent and the man behind the Pop Idol and American Idol TV shows, helped engineer the deal.

Seven Global will get a 10% share of sales made as a result of the tie-up, with Trinity agreeing to shell out minimum royalties of $3.5 million (£2.28 million) in the first year, rising to $7.25 million in the final year of the partnership.

Trinity, which has been struggling amid a weaker retail market in China, saw its shares jump more than 50% on the back of its new signing.

Trinity said in a statement: "The Directors believe that the personal involvement of Mr David Beckham in the further development of the Kent & Curwen brand under the Licence Agreement will enable the Group to capitalise on the rising popularity of soccer in China, where Mr David Beckham is already a legend."
