Dr Martens is stomping into Camden with big plans for a new European head office and flagship shop, north London landlord Market Tech Holdings revealed on Monday.

The brand’s designs were first sold in the area at The British Boot Company shop which became a favourite haunt of bands such as the Sex Pistols and Madness.

Now the footwear firm will open a two-storey standalone store at Stables Market. It will feature virtual tours of the factory and include a customisation section.

It has teamed up with music amplification specialists Marshall to host events at the shop.

The firm will also consolidate its three London offices under one roof in Camden Town.

Charles Butler, chief executive at Market Tech, told the Standard: “Dr Martens was adopted by the subcultures in Camden, so it’s great to see the firm invest in the area.”

He added: “We are seeing heavy footfall here and Dr Martens’ plans show firms are expanding regardless of the Brexit vote.”

Dr Martens’ said it was important to “stay connected” to people who wear its products.
