Electra cashes in with sale of last slice of Safety

11 April 2012

Electra Private Equity today turned an original £30 million investment 13 years ago into £195 million as it sold its last remaining stake in Capital Safety.

Electra backed the original £98 million management buyout of the safety equipment business in 1998.

It has flipped the business twice since, retaining a stake each time.

Today Candover (now known as Arle Capital Partners) sold Capital Safety to another private-equity firm KKR for $1.1 billion (£709 million).

Electra will receive £58 million from the sale. This is twice the value at which its stake was valued at the end of March.
