Games Workshop sees its future in America

11 April 2012

The US needs more tiny model soldiers and miniature monsters, according to their biggest seller Games Workshop.

The retailer today said the "considerable" future potential of the Games Workshop hobby in North America means it is moving executive chairman Tom Kirby to Baltimore for up to two years in a bid to bring "a renewed and increased focus" on sales.

Games Workshop has 86 shops in the US and Canada, its third-biggest market after Brtain and continental Europe, as well as a manufacturing plant in Memphis.

The company said Mr Kirby would fly home for a week every month to "deal with group matters" and "stay close" to the chief executive.

Last week Games Workshop boosted its profit expectations after enjoying soaring demand for its table-top war games and models.
