Winning the war: Games Workshop's Warhammer series has seen huge demand

Soaring demand for its tabletop war games and tiny Lord of the Rings figurines helped Games Workshop to raise its profit expectations today.

The retailer and maker of the dungeons and dragons-style Warhammer games, with more than 340 branches, said annual pre-tax profits would be £5 million higher than the City had expected.

Last year Games Workshop posted a pre-tax profit of £7.5 million for the 12 months to May. The retailer said trading in December was "satisfactory" and that costs were under "firm control".
