Informa well placed after a boost of 12 per cent

Academic and trade publisher Informa, which was early in the rights issue queue raising £242 million in May, today said it enters its second half in a "strong position".

The company's first-half profits rose by 12% to £118 million on revenues that were just 1% better at £636 million.

With a largely subscription-based readership Informa is faring better than more consumer-based publishers.
