Donald Trump’s victory will not deter British businesses from investing in the US, the boss of London online lingerie retailer Bluebella said on Wednesday as she outlined plans to start selling 10,000 bras a month over there.

The firm, which is advertised by Queen drummer Roger Taylor’s daughter Tigerlily, has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube to raise £500,000.

Bluebella recently secured deals from US firms Nordstrom and Bare Necessities to stock the firm’s goods and will ramp up advertising in California and New York next year.

Hackney-based founder Emily Bendell said: “I was behind team Hillary, but there is no doubt that Trump is a pro-business leader."

She added: “I am convinced American consumer appetite will be strong for our products and, with Brexit, it is important for companies to diversify so they are not solely stocked in the UK.”

Bluebella is on track for sales to hit £1.7 million this year, and £4.7 million next year, helped by the US expansion.
