Prezzo pizza confident of topping expectations

Expanding: Prezzo plans to open a further 10 restaurants this year
11 April 2012

Pizza chain Prezzo expects results for last year to beat expectations, allowing it to push on with its plan to open 10 restaurants.

Prezzo said trading in the second-half of 2009 improved, but predicted that challenging economic conditions would continue.

"With the marketplace remaining highly competitive and the recent increase in the UK VAT rate, margin pressure is likely to be a continuing factor in the year ahead," the company, which has 138 restaurants, said.

It said results for the 52 weeks to 27 December would include a one-time gain from a national insurance reclaim but did not disclose the amount.

Analysts expect Prezzo to post a pre-tax profit of £9.3 million on revenue of £87.4 million.
