UK float may be put on hold at Santander

Santander may delay floating its British operations until the second half of the year following big management changes at the business which bought Abbey National, Alliance & Leicester and Bradford & Bingley.

The company had originally targeted the first six months of the year to sell up to a quarter of its UK operations.

Since then, however, chief executive António Horta-Osório was lured to run Lloyds Banking Group.
