The US opened its borders to fully-vaccinated Britons today, in a welcome and long-awaited boost for the travel industry.

British Airways and Virgin Atlantic marked the occasion with a historic dual take-off from Heathrow Airport, with two flights simultaneously jetting off to JFK.

Despite traditionally being competitors, Virgin Atlantic chief executive Shai Weiss said the moment was a “time for celebration, not rivalry.”

“Together with British Airways we are delighted to mark today’s important milestone, which finally allows consumers and businesses to book travel with confidence.”

Are you itching to get back to the US, or are you still cautious about travel, or the thought of long-haul journeys in particular?

We’d love to hear your thoughts and plans - let us know in the comments below for the chance to be featured on the ES website tomorrow.
