As Rishi Sunak calls on world leaders at COP27 in Egypt to protect the planet ‘for our children and grandchildren’, back in the UK there’s pressure on his government to do more to tackle global warming.

On Monday Just Stop Oil campaigners climbed onto gantries at various junctions along the motorway, as they continue calls for the Government to halt all new oil and gas licences.

This month National Highways secured a new injunction to prevent unlawful protests on the M25, meaning those entering, staying or affixing themselves to a structure on the motorway could face stricter punishments.

The Met police has been carrying out a significant operation to arrest climate change protesters causing disruption on the M25.

The Evening Standard's Home Affairs Editor Martin Bentham describes the situation police are faced with as protesters target the M25.

Plus, Climate Scientist Professor Simon Lewis, who is at COP27, discusses the mood at the event and whether Just Stop Oil’s cause is the right one to highlight.
