As the fighting in Ukraine continues, the Evening Standard is launching an appeal to raise money for the thousands of men, women and children fleeing the conflict.

We’ve set up a GoFundMe to support charities on the ground including the Red Cross, who are helping refugees cross the border into Ukraine’s western neighbours.

Journalist Tom Hutch is also supporting refugees as they flee Ukraine towards the border with Poland.

He has been based in Lviv, where he says thousands of people have flocked to, as they escape the conflict.

Tom has travelled to the Polish border to provide food and blankets to those stuck there.

He explains how the operation is going, how people are feeling, and what people in the UK can do to help those caught up in the conflict.
