The Labour leader was known as Ted when he attended Corpus Christi College, Oxford, to read PPE, just as his older brother David had. What comes across is that, where David is sharp-elbowed and brilliant, Ed has created a niche for himself as warmly bright. This is probably what gave him the edge in the leadership race. As the son of an academic, he met lots of interesting, clever people at home. He dated Stephanie Flanders. The book makes you like him.
