Here's a round-up of the best new releases heading to cinemas this month.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Dwayne Johnson flexes his acting muscles in this adventure film reboot / sequel of the nineties classic about the eponymous board game with the power to cause merry hell for those playing it. In this new version, the board game is now a video game discovered by four high school kids during detention.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Daisy Ridley finds the force in the latest Star Wars instalment, directed by Rian Johnson and also starring John Boyega, Andy Serkis, Mark Hamill and the late Carrie Fisher in one of her final film appearances.

In this biopic centred on the Boston Marathon bombing Jake Gyllenhaal portrays Jeff Bauman, who was waiting on the finishing line of the race to cheer on his girlfriend when the bombs detonated. He lost both his legs in the blast. The film is based on Bauman’s memoir of the same name about how he readjusted to life following the bombing.

The Disaster Artist

Brothers James and Dave Franco team up for this movie about the making of the “worst movie ever made”, The Room. James plays writer / producer / director / star Tommy Wiseau while his younger brother plays the actor Greg Sestero, who wrote the memoir on which this film is based.

The Greatest Showman

Hugh Jackman stars in this musical celebrating the birth of showbiz. The film is inspired by the story of PT Barnum and the lives of those who worked for the Barnum & Bailey Circus. It co-stars Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, and Zendaya.
