Jonah Hill is reportedly in talks to play an iconic Batman villain, going up against Robert Pattinson in the upcoming reboot.

The Collider claims that Hill will be playing the Riddler in the new film, though the Hollywood Reporter writes that Hill and Warner Bros are at an “early and sensitive stage”, and haven’t yet decided which character he will play.

The film would mark Hill’s first live-action superhero role, although he previously voiced Green Lantern in the Lego Movie.

It’s the first casting news since Twilight star Pattinson was announced as the new Caped Crusader back in May, taking over from Ben Affleck.

The Riddler is one of Batman’s most enduring villains, first appearing in the comic books back in 1948, and on screen in 1995’s Batman Forever, when Jim Carrey stepped into the role.

It’s also been reported that Westworld and James Bond star Jeffrey Gordon is set to play Commissioner Jim Gordon, taking over from JK Simmons's turn in Justice League.

The Batman, which is expected to start filming late this year, is set to be directed by The Planet of the Apes’ Matt Reeves. It will likely make cinemas in 2021.
