Something for the kids

Cartoons for very young children, say from six to 10, are fairly rare. Usually animated features are cross-generational events, like Shrek or Monsters Inc, requiring narrative sophistication from kids following events and offering accompanying adults the compensation of "in" jokes and parodic borrowings. But no fewer than three simple cartoons - and a live-action adventure - for this age group open this week.
