Steve meets his Party People

10 April 2012

Comedian and actor Steve Coogan came face to face with the inspiration for his latest film, 24 Hour Party People.

The movie tells the story of Manchester's legendary Hacienda club and the Factory Records label, which was set up by music entrepreneur Tony Wilson and gave birth to bands including Joy Division, New Order, James and the Happy Mondays.

Coogan met Wilson, the man he plays in the film, at the movie's world premiere in London last night. One onlooker said: "Steve must have done a good acting job because the pair ended up kissing each other."

Other stars at the premiere included musician Chrissie Hynde, artist Tracey Emin, comedian Keith Allen, actress Jane Horrocks and members of the bands Toploader and Chemical Brothers.

The film is released nationwide on April 5.
