Monkey man: Nick Nolte provides the voice of a gorilla in Zookeeper
10 April 2012

Kevin James is a zookeeper who is good to animals but can't manage humans, especially of the opposite sex.

Obsessively shy, he's lost one girl (Leslie Bibb) and falls for another (Rosario Dawson). Only the animals he looks after can come to the rescue of his romantic aspirations. And they talk him towards love.

Good family entertainment? It would be if it had been rather better done, even though an array of stars voice the zookeeper's charges. They include Nick Nolte as a gorilla, Adam Sandler as a monkey, Cher as a lioness, Sly Stallone as a lion and Judd Apatow as an elephant.

If as much money had gone into the screenplay as must have gone into the paying for the star voices we might have ended up with something less mundane.
