Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 4 delayed

Activision said: "Now is not the time"

Activision has announced it will delay the release of Call of Duty's season 4 update for its multiplayer and battle royale mode Warzone.

The delay even stretches to Call of Duty: Mobile's season 7, but it is all for a good reason.

Along with many other studios, Activision has said the delay is in response to the murder of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died in police custody on Monday, May 25 after being arrested for allegedly forging a cheque.

In response to this, protests have broken out across cities in the United States to make a firm stand against racism and police brutality across the globe.

In a statement on Twitter, the official Call of Duty account announced the delay of the new seasons.

The new seasons were supposed to go live today, June 3, but they will be pushed live at a later date.

"While we all look forward to playing the new seasons of Modern Warfare, Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile, now is not the time," said the game's publisher, Activision in the statement.

"Right now it's time for those speaking up for equality, justice, and change to be seen and heard. We stand alongside you".

This isn't the only postponement happening as a result of the ongoing protests.

CD Projekt Red is moving its planned Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire event to June 25. It was supposed to take place on June 11.

Sony's big PlayStation 5 event, which was supposed to take place tomorrow on June 4, has also been delayed until June 11 for the same reason.
