Ali Kose: I’ve finally got talent... for Turkey’s The Voice

A six-time talent show reject has finally been given his shot at the big time — in Turkey.

Ali Kose, 30, from Hither Green, has been trying to woo the judges on X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and The Voice since 2010, but always fell short of making it through to the televised rounds.

But the music tutor, who helped coach Hope Murphy to the 2012 semi-final of BGT, has hit a chord with judges on O Ses Türkiye – the Turkish version of The Voice – and will compete in the finals over the next few months. Mr Kose, whose family are from Turkey, said: “Maybe I didn’t pick the right songs when I auditioned here. But my cousin from Cyprus said I should give it (O Ses Türkiye) a go. My Turkish isn’t great, but I managed to make a few jokes which made the judges laugh. I did Lionel Richie’s All Night Long which really showed off my voice and the judges liked it.”

Mr Kose, who has worked with Jessie J and Sam Smith, was backed by all four judges at his final audition.

“All I have wanted is a chance and that’s what they have given me,” he added.
