A rare Bob Dylan manuscript featuring handwritten lyrics from more than 50 years ago is expected to fetch up to £15,000 at auction.

The document, which is being sold through an online auction at Sotheby’s, was created by Dylan in the early months of 1966 while writing his seventh studio album, Blonde on Blonde.

It features an early draft of lyrics, scribbled in Dylan’s handwriting, that would go on to be part of the song Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I’ll Go Mine).

There are also 12 typed lines of lyrics, with some that appear to have worked their way into other Dylan songs. For example, the opening line — “Like a rich man’s son/ Like a poor fool in his prime” — bears resemblance to the words in Temporary Like Achilles, another track off Blonde on Blonde.

The auction of the manuscript will begin on May 5 and run for a week until May 12. Head here for more information.

It’s not the only musical rarity expected to rake in a serious amount of money in the coming weeks, either. A cassette tape featuring an unheard demo of a song written by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr is also up for sale, with a price tag of around £20,000.
