British Summer Time

July 1-9, Hyde Park, W1 (08448 24 48 24, bst-hydepark.com)

The biggest outdoor gigs of London’s summer kick off today with Massive Attck, followed in quick succession by Florence + the Machine, Carole King, Mumford & Sons and Stevie Wonder.

Possibly Colliding: a weekend curated by Nils Frahm

July 1-3, Barbican, EC2 (020 7638 8891, barbican.org.uk)

Pianist and composer Frahm takes over the Barbican’s various spaces for an entire weekend of fascinating music, featuring everyone from Wildbirds & Peacedrums to the Britten Sinfonia Voices.

Lionel Richie

July 2-6, O2 Arena, SE10 (0844 824 4824, the02.co.uk)

Last year’s beneficiary of the Glastonbury Sunday afternoon “legends slot” plays three arena shows in London promising all the hits, which is a lot of hits.

Beyoncé

July 2-3, Wembley Stadium (0844 980 8001, wembleystadium.com)

Two stadium shows for the R&B superstar, who generated so much gossip around the lyrics to her recent album, Lemonade, that the fact that it contains some of her finest songs was somewhat overlooked.

Band of Horses

July 5-6, O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, W12 (0844 477 2000, o2shepherdsbushempire.co.uk)

The beardy Americana band have just released a fifth album, Why Are You OK, produced by Jason Lytle of the similar Grandaddy.
