John Lennon’s glasses and George Harrison's unheard ‘Hitler tapes’ to go on sale in Beatles auction

John Lennon’s glasses and unheard ‘Hitler tapes’ recorded by George Harrison are set to go on sale in a new Beatles auction later this month.

A school book previously owned by Sir Paul McCartney is also among the lots set to go under the hammer at the Omega Auctions sale in Newton-Le-Willows, which takes place at 11am on Tuesday March 26.

The 12 karat gold Hibo wrap-around glasses, which belonged to Lennon and were presented by him as a gift to fashion designer Barry Finch in 1967, is the highest profile lot.

A cassette tape containing previously unheard tracks written and recorded by George Harrison in 1978 will also go under the hammer. They are known as the Hitler Tapes.

The unreleased songs included on the cassette are listed as; Brazil Spoken Intro; George Legs Harry; Brazil 1,2 & 3; Sooty Goes to Hawaii (Fast Version); 1 & 2, Mexican Song (George Harrison's Father In Law). and Bullshot (Vocals Legs Larry Smith).

A promotional poster for the band’s second album is expected to sell for £8000-£12000, while a school book featuring McCartney’s English essays written during his time at the Liverpool Institute High School for Boys is also going on sale.

The items will be available to view at the Liverpudlian auction house from 11am to 5pm on Monday March 25 from 11am and from 9am to 11am on the morning of the auction.
