Education, Education, Education: Iconic 1990s moments that inspired theatre company the Wardrobe Ensemble

1/7

There was once a time when Professor Brian Cox was a keyboard player in D:Ream, and Beanie Babies were worth money. That time was the Nineties.

It was a decade when the fashion was all about scrunchies, bum bags and relentless optimism - so it’s no wonder it has been the source of inspiration for theatre company The Wardrobe Ensemble.

The Bristol-based company bring their show Education, Education, Education to Trafalgar Studios this week, making their West End debut following a hit run with the show at Edinburgh Fringe in 2017.

Previous shows have tackled historical moments as various as the 1970s and attitudes to sex, and a riot at an IKEA in 2005.

Education, Education, Education is set the morning after Labour’s landslide 1997 election victory, and takes place in a comprehensive school where students are enjoying muck up day before beginning their GCSE revision.

With the show hitting the capital on the same week that the Spice Girls zig-a-zig-ah back to Wembley , we asked cast which iconic moments continue to inspire them.
