Praise be to the West End theatre gods: Hamilton has extended its booking period into 2019.

Lin-Manuel Miranda's hit hip-hop musical opened at the Victoria Palace Theatre in December 2017, following a hugely successful Broadway run.

The musical was met with five star reviews when it opened, and now fans and hopefuls can book tickets for performances until March 30 2019.

The story follows Alexander Hamilton, one of the United States’ founding fathers, through his life, from birth into poverty on the Caribbean island of Nevis to a life in politics New York, chronicling all of the people he met along the way.

Jamael Westman stars as Hamilton, for which he was nominated for an Oliver Award that ended up going to his co-star Giles Terera (who plays Aaron Burr). The cast also includes Michael Jibson, Jason Pennycooke, Cleve September, Rachel John and Obioma Ugoala.

Tickets go on sale Monday June 4 at noon.
