Amy Hart described her decision to leave the Love Island villa as “a positive thing” as she told Curtis Pritchard that they will have “the best friendship” outside of the ITV2 dating show.

The reality contestant decided to leave the series after Curtis called time on their relationship as she admitted she was unlikely to move on in the three remaining weeks of the competition.

Discussing her impending departure with the ballroom dancer on tonight’s episode, she said: “Realistically for me, I’m not going to be ready in the next three weeks to meet someone else.

“Realistically for you, you will not be happy all the time here because you’ll always put me first because you’re such a good person.

“That’s why I love you so much and that’s why I want you to be happy. You are not going to be happy whilst I’m still here. So, I’m leaving today but it’s a positive thing because I’m going to go and start the rest of my life today

Reflecting on her time on the show in the Beach Hut, the flight attendant said that she had not imagined she would fall in love in the villa.

“I want him to be happy and I want him to meet someone else so I’m leaving here today not holding any grudges against anyone,” she said.

Amy explained her decision to depart to her friends on the show, telling them that she loves them all “dearly.”

“Obviously, as you all know, I did fall in love,” she says. “And when you love someone you have to let them go.

“My Love Island journey finished last night when I sat at that fire pit and I looked at it and thought, ‘Even if I had to take the last week, I would take it if it meant I could take those first four weeks over again.’

“I want to leave in a positive way, surrounded by the people I love, like this,” she concluded.

Amy and Curtis coupled up within the first few days of series five and appeared to be one of the strongest couples in the villa until the dancer's head was turned by new girl Jourdan Raine. He began to question their relationship and eventually concluded that there was "something missing" and that he did not feel a "romantic connection" with Amy.

Love Island continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2.
