Britain’s Got Talent 2017: five must-see auditions from episode six, from a razor-blade swallowing magician to an elderly double-act

There were several standing ovations in this week’s show

In episode six of Britain’s Got Talent not one but three talented teenage singers auditioned to perform in front of the Queen.

There was also a frighteningly good Japanese magician and a couple of singing pensioners who won the audience’s affections. Here are five acts you need to see from this week's round of auditions:

1. Destiny Chukunyere

Accompanied to the auditions by her grandma, Destiny Chukunyere seemed timid and shy on stage but as soon as she started singing her Aretha Franklin cover, the 14-year-old transformed.

Simon Cowell commented “Think is a big song”, but Destiny’s voice proved to be even bigger. With a standing ovation from the crowd and all four judges, her route to the next stage was clear, and David Walliams told her “you are clearly born to sing”.

2. Leah Barniville

Another 14-year old girl with a larger-than-life voice, Leah Barniville’s operatic turn impressed the judges and had the audience on their feet. The Irish schoolgirl, who started singing when she was five, performed the entire song in perfect in Italian and sailed through to the next stage.

3. TanBA

After being greeted by Aleisha in Japanese, TamBA’s routine saw him gobble down an entire balloon and a bowlful of razor blades - he even had the judges verify the sharpness.

The magician then wowed the audience by proceeding to pull all of the razor blades he’d eaten back out of his mouth on a string, plus the balloon as well.

Despite it making for seriously uncomfortable viewing, he went through to the next round.

4. The Pensionaires

Best friends 84-year-old Henry and 75-year-old Malcolm described auditioning on BGT as “living a dream”. While their singing was surprisingly tuneful, it was the Pensionaires’ loveable personalities that really won the crowd and judges over and bagged them a place in the next round.

Ant and Dec even donned matching flat-caps in their honour and the similarity between the two duos was so striking that Cowell commented “This is Ant and Dec in 10 years’ time”, which didn’t go down well with the Geordie presenting partners.

5. Kyle Tomlinson

After being told by Walliams to get singing lessons when he auditioned on the show aged 12, Kyle Tomslinson returned to the studio to show the comedian just how much he’s improved. With all four judges on their feet, and 15-year-old Tomlinson moved to tears after singing his heart out, did he do enough to impress David this time?
