Britain's Got Talent hopeful X finally revealed his identity as last year's contestant Marc Spelmann following his final performance.

The masked magician, who used the three performances to send a message of hope, confessed his true identity at the end of his act on Sunday night.

After his trick, a short video of Spelmann's baby daughter played before the magician - who was Ant and Dec's golden buzzer last year - took off his mask.

The judges were gobsmacked, lavishing praise on the 47-year-old and his act for keeping his identity a secret.

Spelmann failed to make the final last year. He explained to the presenters that he really wanted to come back this year to finish his message of hope.

Viewers at home were stunned to find out the mysterious magician's real identity, flooding Twitter with their surprise.

One wrote: "Marc Spelmann is X?! That was an INCREDIBLE reveal. Well played. I think that’s won it for him. #BGT #BGTFinal.

Another said: "OMG. X is Marc Spellman did not see that coming ! wow !!!!! #BGT."

"I said he should have won last year and it was an injustice he didn’t make it, he is absolutely superb. X/Marc Spelman to win #BGT," commented somebody else.

Last year, Spelmann told the audience and judges about his wife Tessa, who was diagnosed with breast cancer after falling pregnant with their daughter, Isabella, through IVF.

Later videos showed his adorable three-year-old daughter, who even helped him with his act.
