It’s really not long since Simon Wood won this year’s MasterChef competition, but the show's return can't come soon enough.

Luckily, there’s not long to wait – host / judge John Torode has revealed on Twitter that the new series of Celebrity MasterChef will be arriving on BBC One very soon; June 18, 9pm to be exact.

The show will see a host of (sort of) celebs take on TV’s toughest cooking challenge, tasked with creating dishes for the discerning palettes of John Torode and Gregg Wallace.

Competing this year are the likes of Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding, Big Brother’s Bit on the Side host Rylan Clarke, gold medal-winning Paralympian Danny Crates, and the one and only Chesney Hawkes. Keith Chegwin, Arlene Phillips, and Mica Paris are also among the contestants.

A trailer for the new series sees Rylan admit “fish frighten me”, while Gregg Wallace mocks his time on Strictly Come Dancing, saying “as long as they can cook better than I can dance, we’ll be fine.”

Last year saw Olivier Award-winning Eastenders actress Sophie Thompson take the Celebrity Masterchef title.
