As Channel 4’s addictive dating show First Dates continues to cement its reputation as one of the most entertaining (and awkward) series currently on TV, it’s not just viewers that it’s attracting.

After returning for a fourth series last week, the show – which takes over a restaurant and fills it with singletons, all going on filmed blind dates – has seen a huge influx of applicants hoping to bag themselves a date.
