First Dates fans go wild for ‘hilarious’ woman who sneakily steals her date’s dessert

Viewers said "dessertgate" was the show's "best episode yet"

First Dates Ireland fans were left in hysterics when a woman decided to make the most of her date’s trip to the bathroom by shamelessly stealing his dessert.

Lorraine, 51, from County Limerick, made an impression as soon as she arrived in the First Dates restaurant when she decided to down a shot with the maitre d’ and the barman.

She proceeded to call her date Peter a “fool” for having been married twice, threw wine all over herself and then took a phone call from a friend at the dinner table.

While she was busy chatting to her pal, Peter headed to the bathroom, where he received a phone call of his own.

“I don’t really know,” he said as he tried to describe the dinner so far. “This is not what I expected. I really don’t know what to do and what to say.”

He went on to brand his date as “just 100 percent full on.”

While Peter was busy struggling to find the right words, Lorraine sprung into action, tucking into several spoonfuls of her potential love interest’s dessert while telling herself: “I shouldn’t but I will!”

Though the couple unsurprisingly didn’t make it to a second date, Lorraine’s antics certainly proved a hit on social media.

“Can we please get a petition to get @RTE2 to give Lorraine from Limerick her own reality show?” one fan asked. “Absolute legend!!! Could watch her 24/7.”

“Watching First Dates Ireland and a woman just practically ate half of her date’s dessert while he was in the bathroom,” another wrote. “She also had her own dessert. I’m actually dying!”

One fan claimed that they had “NEVER laughed so much” at the show, branding it the “best episode yet.”

Another described “dessertgate” as “the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time.”

First Dates airs on Channel Four in the UK and on RTE2 in Ireland.
