Kit Harrington has hinted that the episodes of the final series of Game of Thrones may run for up to 90 minutes.

The actor said he is “not sure” whether instalments will be “70 or even 90 minutes” in length.

He told The Sun: “There is so much work still to do. We haven’t put together a full episode yet as there is more filming. The length will be a network decision. But we are busy.”

Harington has starred as Jon Snow in the hit HBO series since 2011 and is currently filming series eight in Northern Ireland.

Earlier this month it was revealed that fans of the show will be waiting until 2019 for new episodes to arrive.

But HBO programming head Casey Bloys has promised that more filming time will make for an ‘epic’ final run.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bloys commented: “Here’s what I’ll tell you: They take the time they need to do the show at its highest level of quality.

As the show has gone on, it’s gotten bigger — big battle scenes, big special effects.”

Last year the show broke away from the traditional 10 episode-long series format of the first six runs, and the final series is set to do the same with a total of six episodes.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2018.
