Amber Gill admits that she still hasn’t got over fellow Love Island contestant Michael Griffiths in the latest instalment of ITV2’s hit series.

The 21-year-old was coupled up with firefighter Michael until his head was turned by new islander Joanna Chimonides, prompting him to ditch Amber in a brutal recoupling ceremony.

As Anna Vakili asks her whether she is interested in getting to know new singleton Chris Taylor, Amber admits that she still has feelings for her former partner.

“[Chris] ticks a couple of boxes but not enough to constitute me cracking on with him,” she tells her friend, who advises her: “I know off initial attraction, it wasn’t there for you but it wasn’t there for you and Michael either.”

Becoming tearful, Amber confesses: “I can’t switch off my feelings. I still like Michael.

“Chris is lovely and he’s got tattoos and he’s tall but I just had something with Michael.”

Reflecting on her emotions in the Beach Hut, she adds: “Having a new boy enter the villa tonight has made me realise that I still have feelings for Michael.”

With Michael appearing to be happily coupled up with Joanna, how will he react when he learns of Amber’s feelings?

As Chris and fellow new islander Francesca Allen make themselves at home in the villa, they receive a text telling them that they can each take two contestants out on dates.

Chris admits he fancies Belle and asks her if “[her] head could be turned” from Anton before having a tete a tete with Maura - who’s intent on “earwigging” when she learns that Francesca has decided to take Curtis on a date.

“The poor lad is going to be talking to me and I’m just going to be earwigging,” she admits in the Beach Hut. “I want to hear the way Curtis is behaving!”

Could a successful date with Francesca throw Curtis and Maura’s incipient romance off track already?

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
