Love Island news: Viewers brand Joe 'possessive' and 'controlling' after Lucie couples with Tommy

Joe has caught feelings waaay too early

Love Island fans have slammed Joe Garratt for his “possessiveness” towards Lucie Donlan after she coupled up with Tommy Fury.

The sandwich man was left distraught after his two days coupled up with Lucie ended with Tommy stealing her away at the end of Tuesday night’s episode.

And in the next episode, Joe made it clear that he was not a fan of the boxer’s decision as he pretty much stormed around the villa feeling sorry for himself, and wondering what to do now he felt “single” again.

But fans of the show were quick to question why Joe had “caught feelings” so early on and was acting as if he was “in a relationship” after a mere 48 hours. Some labelled his behaviour “creepy” and “weird” while others couldn’t help but point out similarities to fictional Joe Goldberg from Netflix show You.

One wrote: “Ew Joe is actually so creepy and possessive, it's becoming uncomfortable to watch...”

Another said: “I felt so bad for Joe last night because Tommy picked Lucie but now he just sounds so controlling and manipulative and just raising red flags #lovelsland.”

“Joe is seriously possessive and controlling and it's only been 24 hours, imagine actually getting in a relationship with him. Lucie needs to come to her senses and sack him right off #loveisland,” argued somebody else.

Many agreed that it was a “big warning sign”, and were left upset that Lucie was being “put in this position” as she grows increasingly “torn” between her two potential suitors.

During the episode, Amy warned Lucie that she shouldn’t “cut herself off too early” as she struggled with Tommy’s decision.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2
