Love Island’s ‘cruel manipulation’ of Dani has prompted a wave of complaints to media watchdog Ofcom.

At the end of Sunday’s episode, Dani was shown a clip of her beau Jack clocking eyes on his ex Ellie in Casa Amor.

The loved up 22-year-old feared the worse and broke down in tears, completely unaware that Jack has declared his love for her and been sleeping away from his ex and the six new girls.

On Monday, Ofcom has confirmed to Standard Online that 650 complaints were received about the scene but the number has now risen to 2,525.

A spokesperson said: “We are considering these complaints against our broadcasting rules, before deciding whether or not to investigate.”

The shocking moment has received more complaints than Amanda Holden's Britain's Got Talent dress last year which sparked 665 and has surpassed 2017’s most complained about Good Morning Britain show last September. The ITV breakfast show sparked 1,142 complaints over an interview with a gay conversion therapist.

On Sunday night, viewers were fuming at what the producers chose to show Dani, slamming the decision to not message her the video of Jack declaring his love for her or sleeping alone outside.

The villa sweethearts, who have been coupled up since day one, recently made their relationship official and have both stayed loyal to each other during the minibreak by sleeping outside.

In another clip from the latest show, Jack confessed his growing feelings for the barmaid to Adam, saying: “I keep picturing Dani’s face and I want to see it. I really do. I actually love. I’m not going to lie to you. I love Dani Dyer. I actually love her.”

ITV have been contacted for comment.

Love Island continues Tuesday at 9.30pm on ITV2.
