Original Great British Bake Off judging duo Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood could be reunited on the US version of the show.

Producers on The Great American Baking Show are reportedly keen to recreate the success the pair enjoyed on the BBC series, by enlisting Berry to join Hollywood across the pond.

A source told The Sun: “The Mary and Paul combo is a winning formula and American bosses are well aware of that.

“They saw how much of a success Bake Off was on the BBC and are keen to recreate it.”

ABC network president Channing Dungey said: “Audiences really get excited about the contestants and the way in which the show unfolds.

“The format is not that different from the British version but I think viewers respond to the hosts and the people we have here. We are excited about the way we are doing the show here in America.”

He also revealed to The Sun that he was hopeful about the possibility of Berry coming aboard "depending on schedules".

Berry and Hollywood were judges on the first seven series of the shows, but went their separate ways after the BBC lost the format in a bidding war with Channel 4.

Hollywood was the only member of the original line-up to make the move to the rival broadcaster, while Berry, along with presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, opted to quit.

Viewers were originally sceptical that the C4 series, which featured new presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig and judge Prue Leith, would be able to match up to the original, but were eventually won over.

Meanwhile The Great American Baking Show was axed after two series after Hollywood’s US co-host Johnny Iuzzini was met with allegations of sexual misconduct against four former employees.

The Great British Bake Off returns to Channel 4 later this year.
