Mission: Possible! James Corden takes on skydive challenge with Tom Cruise

James Corden Carpool Karaoke skits have become viral sensations, with the host driving around Los Angeles accompanied by singing celebrities.

But in his most recent film for the Late Late Show, Corden took things out of cruise control — and went skydiving with the star of Mission Impossible.

The comedian, 39, went on Twitter last night to reveal the feat, writing: “Here it is, quite possibly one of my favourite things we’ve ever shot, jumping out of a plane with Tom Cruise! An unforgettable day.”

During the clip, Cruise, 56, expresses disbelief that Corden has shown up to the airfield in California.

“I’m just so impressed that James is going skydiving,” he says. “I mean, between you and me, I was half expecting him to text me and tell me he was cancelling.”

Corden responds: “I’ve actually been trying to get a hold of Tom for the last couple of days to cancel, but apparently I had his number saved wrong in my phone. So, I’d also like to take this time to apologise to Tom Hiddleston for all the messages I sent him about my case of food poisoning.”

Once airborne the pair do some warm-up stretches before it is time for Corden to jump.

Strapped to an expert, the comedian is seen falling from the plane, screaming. He and Cruise complete two mid-air dance routines, including one that spells out “Late Late Show”.

Cruise is then seen making an elegant landing, while Corden crashes to the ground, falling on his face.

The stunt came after London-born Corden said a skydive that Cruise performed more than 100 times while filming upcoming movie Mission: Impossible — Fallout, in cinemas today, was “no big deal”.
