Actress Roxanne Pallett opened up about her horror crash during an interview with Good Morning Britain, hitting back at cruel trolls who contacted her following the accident.

Speaking on Monday, Pallett explained that she and her co-host had been visiting the racetrack last Wednesday as part of their show, which sees them get out and about in the local community in North Yorkshire.

But the promo soon turned to horror as she lost control of the car high-speed car and blacked out, unable to brake.

The 36-year-old said: “I just remember being excited, and it was new, and then realising very fast that the car was more powerful than me and when I was revving to drive, I didn’t expect it to be so quick.

“I just lost control. I couldn’t brake and I couldn’t turn it round the corner. I could just see that I was about to hit and then that was when I lost… I just blacked out.

“It was like time stood still. I remember waking up and just hearing my own breath. I was so out of breath. I could feel my heart racing, I could hear voices. I must have had my eyes closed, they said I’d lost consciousness for about 30 seconds.

“I had this numbed, blocked up feeling in my head, like there was water in my head, like my brain had rattled. I couldn’t really hear much, I couldn’t feel much either. Ben Fry my colleague was relaying messages from Lee [her boyfriend] to try and keep me awake.

“The minute I woke up I knew it wasn’t good. I think that’s why they airlifted me because I couldn’t feel my legs and my neck and my head. I’ve never felt pain like it. I’m so lucky.”

Pallett then addressed cruel taunts she has received online in the wake of her accident that have “lacked compassion” and left her “really upset”.

The actress told the show: “I have to say this because I’ve had some really negative comments on social media that’s been really upsetting from the stock car racing community almost lacking compassion.

“They were almost disappointed that I’d been airlifted and only come out of it with some internal bruising and sprained wrist. I’ve got to also point out that sometimes injuries can be invisible. There’s people every day walking around with injuries and disabilities that are invisible to the eye and people need to remember that.”

The star also thanked the emergency services at the end of the emotional interview, in which she also revealed she had been back behind the wheel since.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
