Sky Atlantic’s eagerly-awaited thriller Save Me has been released in its entirety online, before the first episode airs on Wednesday night.

Broadcast at 9pm each week, the six-part drama focuses on Nelly Rowe, a man who has his world turned upside down when his fling Claire McGory accuses him of kidnapping his 13-year-old daughter, Jody, whom he never knew about.

Determined to clear his name, Nelly embarks on a mission to find his estranged daughter’s real abductor and is faced with a journey to becoming a better man and facing up to his past.

But what else do you need to know about the gritty drama? Look no further...

Save Me: Suranne Jones stars in the gritty drama
Sky

1. It stars Suranne Jones and Lennie James as leads

Straight from losing her beloved son Tom in Doctor Foster, the Gemma Foster actress is back in another parenting role starring as Claire, a former fling of Nelly’s who is convinced of his guilt.

Protagonist Nelly – played by James – will confront demons in his past and right his wrongs, not least what he did to Claire.

2. It comes from the creators of Line of Duty

The brains behind BBC hit Line of Duty, World Productions, are also responsible for thriller, Save Me.

The series itself is created and written by its main star Lennie James, who starred as DCI Anthony Gates in the first series of the crime and police corruption drama.

3. It was filmed in and around South London

The drama is set mainly in the South of the capital, with Nelly living on a council estate in Deptford, which is in the Borough of Lewisham.

Claire also hails from South London but has settled in Surbiton when we pick up the drama.

The programme, however, isn’t restricted to South London and will travel the city. The pub frequented by Nelly and others is The Palm Tree in Mile End.

4. There are other familiar faces in the cast

Aside from Jones and James, viewers will recognise a fair proportion of the Save Me cast.

Actor Stephen Graham, who plays Melon, starred in cult hit This Is England as Combo while Tenns actress Kerry Godliman was Hannah in Derek, Ricky Gervais’ sitcom.

5. You don’t have to wait weeks for the series finale

As is becoming increasingly popular with shows, Save Me is available to watch right away in its entirety on Sky’s own On Demand service and NOW TV.

Perfect for a snow day binge watch.
