New to Sky and Now TV this Easter: from family favourites to the latest releases

A whole feast of content is dropping on Sky for the bank holiday weekend

The bank holiday weekend is fast approaching and TV schedules are chock-full of things to watch.

Not to be outdone by mainstream TV or its on-demand counterparts, Sky has also dropped a huge array of content for customers and Now TV subscribers to settle down with.

So if you’ve stuffed yourself silly with Easter eggs, prepare to binge some more on a whole feast of televisual treats available this weekend…

Televisions shows new to Sky and Now TV for Easter

For younger children

Nick Jnr sees a return of everyone’s favourite anorak-wearing bear in the new series The Adventures of Paddington.

Each short episode will take a lead from Michael Bond’s original books and, with the spirit of the new Paddington movies, tell brand new Paddington stories in an exciting new animated form.

Musical YouTube series Little Baby Bum is also available to watch, alongside Peter Rabbit, PAW Patrol, Bing, T.O.T.S and Streetcat Bob.

Other classics available for little ones include Peppa Pig, Thomas and Friends and Fireman Sam.

For older children

Older children aren’t forgotten over the Easter weekend, with three new series available to keep your family occupied.

Moominvalley: The award-winning Sky Original adaptation of the much-loved work of Finnish-Swedish writer Tove Jansson is back. Follow Moomintroll as he introduces us to his unique and eccentric family. With an all-star class including Taron Egerton and Kate Winslet, it’s not just the children who will be engrossed.

Where’s Wally: The DreamWorks animation series brings Wally straight out of his famous picture book and on his very own adventure. Assigned tasks and adventures by the seasoned wanderer Wizard Whitebeard, Wally and pal Wanda have to solve puzzles using their powers of observation.

Bad Nature: Animal lovers will adore this cheeky series, hosted by Marv the Mandrill, Gloria the Puma and their friends. The live-action comedy combines beautiful natural history footage with state-of-the-art animation as we explore both the weirdest and most wonderful animal facts.

Other shows available: Horrid Henry, The Amazing World of Gumball, Victorious, The Next Step, Henry Danger, Bunk’d, Spongebob Squarepants, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Teen Titans Go, Unikitty.

There are plenty of family classics and brand new offerings on Sky and Now TV for everyone of all ages to enjoy.

Dynamo: Beyond Belief

The hugely popular street magician returns to television with a three-part special that combines jaw-dropping magic with the story of his road to recovery after the career threatening illness of Crohn’s disease. The series will also see the magician head to Tokyo and San Miguel De Allende to perform his usual brand of spine-tingling magic.

Movies new to Sky and Now TV

Latest releases

With the cinemas having to close their doors due to the coronavirus crisis, upcoming blockbusters are now being shown on streaming platforms and subscription services.

Trolls World Tour

Originally meant to be released over the Easter holidays, the family film is now available to watch on the Sky Store.

Our trolls Poppy and Branch discover there are six other lands, which represent different a different kind of music - Funk, Country, Techno, Classical, Pop and Rock. However, hard-rock royalty Queen Barb wants to destroy all other music so only rock remains – leaving Poppy and Branch having to team up with the other troll tribes to save their lands.

Four Kids and IT

A Sky Original production, the film, based on Jacqueline Wilson’s book, follows four children living on the picturesque Cornish coast, discover whether a strange, magical creature can make all their wishes come true.

Reimagined Disney classics

If you’re yet to subscribe to Disney+, then fear not – Sky and Now TV customers have several remastered Disney classics for you to tune into.

The 2019 re-imaginings of The Lion King (starring Beyonce), Aladdin (with Will Smith) and Tim Burton’s Dumbo are all available to watch, as well as the live action Jungle Book, Cinderella and Alice Through the Looking Glass. The ‘sequel’ to Mary Poppins, Mary Poppins Returns starring Emily Blunt, is also available, with CGI adventure Pete’s Dragon offering some animated fun.

If Disney isn’t necessarily up your street, than the 2011 Muppets film is great fun for all the family for Sky and Now TV customers.

Musical favourites

Nothing quite lifts the spirits like a musical, with Sky and Now TV customers treated to classic musical numbers from the last two decades.

Kate Hudson’s 2001 classic Almost Famous is available to watch, alongside Jack Black’s School of Rock from 2003. Walk the Line, the romantic musical drama, from 2005, is good for the adults to settle down to, with Lady Gaga’s A Star Is Born another schmaltzy classic.

Hugely popular biopics Freddie Mercury’s Bohemian Rhapsody, and Elton John’s Rocketman, have landed, and Richard Curtis’s hugely sweet Beatles musical Yesterday is available to watch from 12th April.

Feelgood films

All available from Friday, April 10, a huge mix of classics are available to watch to lift our spirits.

For all the film buffs out there: Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption, The Pursuit of Happyness and Singin in the Rain are all available. But for those looking for a more classic watch: Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Jerry Maguire, Mary Poppins and Planes, Trains & Automobiles are well worth a watch.

Up will entertain (and upset) the whole family if you manage to make your way through the entire Disney back catalogue, while Bridget Jones’s Diary and Crazy Rich Asians are great girly watches if you want some light-hearted fun.
