Springwatch 2016: Iolo Williams gave another spectacular innuendo on the BBC nature show

Iolo Williams asked a rather personal-sounding question on the nature show

For those who love a bit of Carry On style humour, Springwatch is the gift that keeps on giving.

The barrage of sexual innuendos and double entendres just keeps on coming as the pre-watershed nature show continues – even giving the soggy bottom-laden Bake Off a run for its money.

While the culprit is often Chris Packham, this time it was the turn of Welsh presenter Iolo Williams to bring the giggles.

In a segment on the European shag bird, Williams met up with expert Liz Morgan to ask about her research and the data she’s collected from tagging the animals.

Speaking about the exceptionally deep dives that the birds are able to take, Morgan explained that one shag had been diving down 50 metres into the water.

Of course, the follow up question that Williams then asked was pure innuendo bingo fodder: “Is that the deepest shag you’ve ever had?”

“Yes,” replied a straight-faced Morgan, adding: “The previous one was 41 metres.”

The double entendre comes just weeks after Chris Packham asked to see “great tits” and Michael Strachan said she could “scratch my own badger” on the series.

Still, nothing beats the Winterwatch episode which saw Packham tell Strachan that he would show her “blackcock in the flesh” in an upcoming instalment.
