Susanna Reid was left red-faced after her mobile phone went off live on Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain.

The 47-year-old presenter interrupted co-host Piers Morgan while he was in the middle of giving an impassioned speech about the 100-year anniversary of the women’s right to vote.

He was brutally interrupted mid-sentence by Reid’s phone, which started loudly beeping.

The former BBC Breakfast host, who was quick to remove her phone, said: “Excuse me.”

Morgan quipped: “Was that your phone? In the middle of my suffragette speech?”

To which an embarrassed Reid responded: “I know it’s terrible isn’t it. Can I take it off set?”

“Yes if you wouldn’t mind removing Susanna’s phone, highly unprofessional”, added 52-year-old Morgan.

Reid admitted that she had recently purchased a new phone and was unaware of “how to work it.”

Morgan mocked his co-host, adding that it was “pretty obvious” how to work the phone.

Viewers were able to see the more humorous side as one quipped: “I'd prefer to watch Susanna's phone continually ring than listen to Piers.”

Another tweeted: “Susanna had to say before the off. It's not unprofessional when a phone goes off, these things are easiley done. It's not your fault your phone went off Susanna. You’re a wonderful lady. Have a fabulous day.”

Good Morning Britain continues from 6am on ITV
