The X Factor launched with a series of stellar performances on Saturday night, including a girl band who gave one of the ‘best auditions ever’ and a booty-shaking grandma.

Returning judges Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini were joined by newcomers Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw as this year’s first round of wannabes hit the stage.

Here’s our round-up of this episode’s most memorable acts:

1. 4th Power

Sisters Mylene, Celina, Irene and Almira jetted all the way from the Philippines to perform in front of the brand new line-up of judges.

Singing and performing a dance routine to Jessie J’s Bang Bang, the foursome had the judges on their feet by the end of their energetic act.

Hard-to-impress Cowell even told the girls that it was one of the ‘best auditions ever’, gaining the girls four big ‘yeses’.

2. Jennifer Phillips

Jennifer Phillips, 49, from London put her dreams of singing on hold for years but finally plucked up the courage to hit the X Factor stage.

After Cowell told her to ditch her prepared song, Halo, Phillips nervously took on Mary J Blige’s Shackles.

As Fernandez-Versini said, the wannabe singer ‘brought down the roof’, gaining her four ‘yeses’ and a place in Boot Camp.

3. Jon Goody

Everyone wanted Olly Murs’ best friend and former band mate Jon Goody to be amazing.

Unfortunately for him, and an upset Mr Murs, the Essex boy received four ‘nos’, after Ora pointed out that he didn’t have ‘star quality’.

4. Susan Pryce

Susan Pryce, a 60-year-old grandmother from Brighton, certainly had bags of enthusiasm as she chatted to the judges about her pet bird and ambition to win the entire competition.

Her rendition of 2 Unlimited’s No Limit had the entire arena singing along and left all four judges with smiles on their faces.

Looking just as shocked as everyone, Pryce received four yeses, as Rita Ora said that she ‘wanted to see her again’.

5. Louisa Johnson

Nerves nearly got the better of the 17-year-old from Essex, who had to start her song again while her worried family looked on.

Thankfully, Louisa Johnson’s rendition of Who's Loving You by Michael Jackson had the four judges on their feet and she tearfully went through to the next round.

6. Tom Bleasby

Tom Bleasby, 19, is a Politics student from Leeds, but he can also do a pretty spot on rendition of Adele’s Feel My Love.

Leaving the judges with a tears in their eyes, the teenager sailed through to Boot Camp after his powerful performance.
